With Honest Jobs, Elizabeth got a job offer only within a few days

Elizabeth was looking for employment for 3-4 months before she found Honest Jobs. With Honest Jobs, she got an offer only within a few days. Read about her experience in the interview transcript below:

What was your job searching experience like before and after you found Honest Jobs?

Elizabeth: "I have a Bachelor's degree and I'm used to having good paying positions. Getting in trouble, I did not realize the impact that it will have on my employment and my life. I was looking for jobs for about three or four months. I was calling staffing agencies and I did go to the Department of Labor. And then things were still getting hard, because the positions were very hard labor, general labor, and I wasn't used to that kind of work. I started being very blunt with employers when I gave them a call and let them know what I have on my record. Once I found Honest Jobs, getting an offer was fairly quick. I would say within a few days, it was very quick."

Tell us about your new job!

Elizabeth: "I’m working for Old Navy as a Sales Associate. The pay is about $15/hr. I enjoy the work atmosphere, the people that I work with are very nice. I’m thankful."

Would you recommend Honest Jobs to other formerly incarcerated job seekers?

Elizabeth: "Oh yes, and I have. I’ve already recommended to a few friends of mine because the process was very quick, nice, and easy to understand. I was actually able to get employment and that’s something that I was not able to do with any other company before. And I like the communication process, how you all were."

Do you have any tips for other justice involved job seekers?

Elizabeth: "Don’t give up and just know that there are employers out there. Keep trying, get out there, and be honest. You have to be honest when you’re contacting employers so that you don’t get your hopes up high and know what’s going on. Learn from your mistakes, because sometimes we have to go through things to grow. Everything happens for a reason, so don’t give up."
