Our team has built a fully custom job marketplace and proprietary job-compatibility algorithm specifically designed for justice-involved individuals and fair-chance employers.

OUR MISSION:

Did you know that 1 in 3 Americans have a criminal record and that 1 in 11 have a felony conviction? On average, it takes people 8.5 months to find a job after incarceration. That accounts for billions of dollars lost from the poorest communities in our country. We aim to reduce recidivism by cutting the time it takes to find a job in half. 

 

DETAILS:

We are looking for a full-stack software engineer, with expertise in .NET Core, database development, and building & supporting REST APIs. More than that, though, we’re looking for a problem solver, someone who is passionate & proud about building great software, and someone who wants to use their talents for meaningful impact & social good.

 - $90,000 - $105,000/year + paid time off + healthcare stipend + stock options

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 - Participate in sprint planning and story estimation, analyze & clarify business requirements, and document deployment tasks

 - Contribute to development efforts on stories & defects according to business priorities and timelines

 - Analyze performance metrics, error logs & stack traces to identify & resolve defects or potential issues

 - Respond to technical questions, and provide guidance & suggestions on usability, performance optimization, architecture, and user experience

 - Submit pull requests for developed features & defects

 - Mentor other developers, and review & merge pull requests

 - Above all, make sure our users experience as little friction as possible

Honest Jobs is a social enterprise tech startup focused on helping people impacted by the criminal justice system find gainful employment fast. Our proprietary technology and highly specialized team aim to reduce the national average time from incarceration to gainful employment by 50% over the next 5 years. We are headquartered in Columbus Ohio with a new office opening in Denver Colorado May 2021. 

 

DETAILS

 - $80,000 - $100,000/year + Paid time off + Healthcare stipend + Stock options

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work closely with our CEO and be incharge of expanding our marketplace in Colorado. This means collaborating with dozens of employers as well as non-profits and government agencies to create market liquidity and increase revenue. If successful in this position you will have the opportunity to expand your territory beyond the state of Colorado.

 

Below is a general breakdown of weekly work.

~ 50% Sales calls, emails, and meetings with the goal of getting employers to try our service and opt into a paid arrangement.

~ 20% Ensuring existing employer accounts are getting the most of our service and continuously improving our customer retention.

~ 20% Working with nonprofits and government agencies to increase product adoption in Colorado

~ 10% Working with leadership on strategy, growth, pricing, and other major company initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Must have 3+ years of experience doing sales/business development with a startup 

  • Ability to nurture a lead for several weeks or months to closing 

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Respond to calls and emails in a timely manner

  • Pay close attention to details 

  • Be confident yet friendly 

  • Be a self-starter
